Bobcats Add Carter Duffin as Assistant Coach

Lloydminster, AB – The Lloydminster Bobcats are thrilled to announce the hiring of Carter Duffin as the new Assistant Coach & Assistant GM. Duffin, a native of Red Deer, Alberta has spent the last 3 seasons in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League as the Head Coach & General Manager of the Castlegar Rebels. Prior to his time in Castlegar, Duffin was the Director of Hockey Operations and Assistant Coach with the Estevan Bruins. During that season the Bruins lost in game seven of the league final to the Nipawin Hawks.

The Bobcats took their time through the off season in finding the right candidate to fill the position and add to the foundation built over the past two seasons. Bobcats Head Coach & General Manager Nigel Dube looks forward to the addition of Duffin, “Carter is a coach who is eager to learn, dedicated to the game, and willing to work with the players in reaching their goals on and off the ice. We were looking to add someone to our staff who had experience and was familiar with the junior game, Carter has that.” The new member of the Bobcats coaching staff is also very familiar with hockey in Alberta as he was previously the U15 AAA Head Coach in Red Deer and took part in the Alberta Cup on two separate occasions.

Duffin will be arriving in Lloydminster at the beginning of August and will kick off his coaching at the Bobcats Hockey School beginning the middle of the month. “We are very excited for Carter to get to town; he has all the traits exemplifying the core values we have in our organization and being a community first team. It will be a great opportunity for Carter to get to know the community and our players prior to training camp opening up!” added Dube. The Bobcats main camp will officially open on August 27th before pre-season play on September 1st.   The 2021-22 season home opener will be on September 18th against the rival Bonnyville Pontiacs.
