Bobcats Add Top Recruit Nick Quillan

Less than one week into his new role as General Manager and Gord Thibodeau already has his first big recruit signed for the 2015-16 season. Thibodeau announced today that the Bobcats have signed top-level recruit Nick Quillan from the Gunnery Highlanders of the New England Prep School Hockey League.

Quillan is a 1996-born 6’0” 190-pound left-shot defenceman who enjoyed a strong 2014-15 season, collecting 8 goals and 25 assists for 33 points in 25 games. Quillan helped lead his team to the New England Championship semi-finals, and was also a member of the US-National Champion CT Wolfpack Midget Tier 1 hockey team. In 2012-13 Quillan also recorded 2 assists in 5 games for the Team Canada Atlantic U-17 team. The product of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Quillan is already committed to the Colgate University Raiders NCAA Div. I men’s hockey program for the 2016-17 season.

Coach Thibodeau on his latest recruit:
“We are extremely excited to welcome Nick to the Bobcats family. He will bring an added dimension of speed and skill to the back end of this year’s squad. Nick will have an impact both on the powerplay and 5-on- 5, as he is very creative at moving the puck and jumping in to the offence.”

Nick Quillan on his commitment to Lloydminster:
“I am happy and very excited to be a part of Lloydminster’s organization. I am fortunate to come into an organization at its prime and have a chance to win the RBC Cup national championship. I am hoping I can make an immediate impact to this team and I look forward to putting on the jersey come September.”

The addition of Quillan comes at the beginning of a busy offseason for the Bobcats, who are set to compete for the 2016 RBC Cup as the host team from May 14 – 22nd in Lloydminster.
