The Lloydminster Bobcats have added to their coaching staff for the 2018/19 season.

The Bobcats are excited to announce Kelly Guard as their new Assistant Coach.

Guard, 34, comes to the Bobcats after serving as the Goalie Coach for the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL.

“I’m very thankful to be given this opportunity,” said Guard. “I’m excited to get to work with Travis and Kris this coming fall. I’ve had multiple productive conversations with Travis about his vision and plans for the Bobcats organization. I am looking forward to learning new strategies and developing new relationships within the community. I’m proud to be a Bobcat.”

A native of Prince Albert, Guard helped lead the Kelowna Rockets to a Memorial Cup championship in 2004 as their starting goalie. He was also awarded the Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy as the tournament’s MVP.

“We are very excited to add Kelly to our coaching staff,” said Bobcats Head Coach and General Manager Travis Clayton. “He brings a wealth of experience with him, and will really be able to help develop our back-end, both the defence and goalies.”

Season tickets for the 2018/19 campaign are currently on sale and can be purchased online at http://lloydminsterbobcats.ca/tickets/season-tickets.html or by visiting the Bobcat’s office.
