Bobcats Blanked By Wolverines

It was a game to forget Saturday night at the Civic Centre for the Lloydminster Bobcats.

Playing host to the Whitecourt Wolverines in a Viterra North division match-up, the Cats were unable to get on the board as they fell 4-0 to the visitors.

Getting the scoring rolling for the Wolverines was Lloydminster product Easton Haygarth, who tallied the first of three power-play goals on the night for Whitecourt, giving them a 1-0 lead after one period of play.

In the middle frame it was Adam Bricker and Brayden Labant finding the back of the net for Whitecourt, building their lead to 3-0 over the Cats.

With Labant’s goal coming on the power-play, the Wolverines fired home another power-play goal just over a minute into the third period when Ben Evanish beat Bobcat’s goalie Cale Elder.

Throughout the game, the Bobcats were unable to get much going in their favour. And their penalty kill, which entered the game as the best in the AJHL, let them down as the Wolverines finished 3 for 8 with the man-advantage. The Bobcats meanwhile finished 0 for 6 on the power-play.

Whitecourt went on to outshoot Lloydminster 28-24 in the game.

Tye Morin made 24 saves for the Wolverines to earn the shut-out, while Elder turned aside 24 of 28 shots.

The Bobcats will finish off a three game homestand Sunday when they host the Okotoks Oilers at 5:00pm from the Civic Centre.
