Bobcats Complete Five Player Trade with Whitecourt

The Lloydminster Bobcats have acquired goaltender Josh Dechaine, forward Cory Santoro and defenseman Jamieson Ree and future considerations from the Whitecourt Wolverines, in-exchange for blueliner Nick Quillan, goalie Pierce Diamond and future considerations.

“We are excited about what these three players can bring to our organization. The talks all started because Whitecourt owed us a player as compensation for the coaching change and things evolved from there. Ultimately we were able to package together a deal that addresses our organization's needs,” said Head Coach and GM Travis Clayton.

Dechaine is a ’98 born goaltender from St. Albert, Alberta, who has 16 games of AJHL experience already under his belt. Last season with the Wolverines, Dechaine suited up in 12 games, posting a .909 save percentage and 2.72 goals against average.

“In Dechaine we add a goaltender with some experience at the AJHL level who put up really good numbers last season. We are excited to see what he can do when he has the opportunity to see more minutes,” said Clayton

Cory Santoro is a native of Kelowna, B.C. who is entering his third season of AJHL hockey. Last season Santoro spent the entire year with the Whitecourt Wolverines, after being traded on June 2nd from the Bonnyville Pontiacs. While in Whitecourt, Santoro scored 11 goals and had 21 assists for 32 points in 59 games.

“Santoro had a good season in Whitecourt last year and we expect him to step into a top-six forward position this season. Losing a veteran like Zac Giroux meant there was a need we had to address up front and Santoro will fill that void nicely,” added Clayton

At 6’2’’, 190 pounds, Jamieson Ree will be a physical presence on defense. Ree is heading into his sophomore year in the AJHL and will help solidify the Bobcat blueline. Last season he put up three goals and 11 assists for 14 points in 45 games. Ree hails from Surrey B.C.

“Jamieson is a high energy, physical defenceman that will bring a very consistent effort night in and night out and provide some leadership on the back end, said Clayton”

The Bobcats would like to thank Nick Quillan and Pierce Diamond for their contributions to the organization, and wish them the best in their future.
