Bobcats Finalize Coaching Staff

Lloydminster Bobcats Head Coach and GM, Travis Clayton has announced today that Taylor Holt will be joining the club as Assistant Coach and Assistant GM.

“Taylor has a great hockey mind and excellent degree of knowledge that will immediately benefit this franchise. He also possesses a proven ability to develop young talent at a high level,” said Clayton

Holt, a native of Regina, has coached with Clayton for the previous three seasons, winning provincial titles at the AAA level in Bantam and Midget. Last season, the pair coached the Lloydminster AAA Midget team to an impressive finish at the Telus Cup in Quispamsis, NB. Four players from that team have already signed with the Bobcats.

“I’m really excited to join the Bobcats franchise full time. I couldn’t ask for a better group of guys to get to coach again and am eager to be behind the bench, and continue to learn from Travis,” said Holt.

Holt moved to the border city in 2007, to play in the North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League with the Lloydminster Bandits. He would spend a full season in Lloyd, then join Vermilion where he played with the Tigers for three years.  After playing four seasons at forward in the NEAJBHL, Holt was asked to remain with the Tigers as an assistant coach. He enjoyed it so much he decided to stay in Vermilion and was offered the position as the team’s Head Coach the following season. In 2012-13, Holt returned to Lloydminster where he joined Clayton behind the bench of the Lloydminster Bantam Heat.

“Having coached with him (Holt) in the past, I am familiar with his work ethic and was able to see personally how well he worked with the midget team last season, both on and off the ice,” said Clayton.

Holt will be joining Clayton and Kris Wiebe to round out the 2016-17 Lloydminster Bobcats coaching staff.
