Lloydminster, AB – A busy off season continues for the Cats who are excited to announce the signing of Alex Danis from the Calgary Royals Midget AAA. Danis comes to the Bobcats organization after posting 18 goals and 33 points in 34 games for the Royals. In his final season of midget hockey Danis helped his club go on an impressive playoff stretch ending with a fifth and deciding game against the Calgary Buffalos in the south AMHL final. During that run Danis was an impact player scoring 3 times and adding 4 assists in 13 playoff games. “Alex is a special player and more importantly a special person. We had several meetings with Alex and his family during the recruiting process and it was very evident he is a very high character person. His preparation, focus and commitment to his final exams showed us as a staff how much he strives for success; the best part is we haven’t even talked about his play yet!” HC/GM Nigel Dube commented with a smile. “The 2001 born Danis will bring a skill set to the Bobcats forward group and be an impact player early in his junior career.”
Statistically, Danis has been a very well-rounded player, his goal scoring record was close to the number he set up. His play comes with a lot of energy and Civic Centre fans will see him as a two-hundred-foot player. Bobcats’ Director of Player Personnel Andrew Gilbert had the opportunity to watch Danis several times during the season and had several conversations as part of the recruiting process, “Alex is a player we think will be a big addition to our offensive group, he’s been a leader on his team on and off the ice and we think very highly of him. His attention to detail and how he prepares himself to be the best he can be is what we look for in our players, he is committed to succeed at everything he does” finished Gilbert.
