Lloydminster, AB – The Lloydminster Bobcats are excited to announce local product Ben Byrgove will be the team’s captain for the 2022-23 season! Byrgove is entering his fourth season with the Bobcats and served in the leadership group this past season.
Bygrove grew up and played all of his hockey in the Lloydminster Minor Hockey Association and Lloydminster Elite Hockey. He joined the Bobcats as an affiliate player during the 2018-19 season where he dressed for 7 games, that spring he signed with the Bobcats to join the team full time for the 2019-20 season. Bygrove has played in 96 games in junior hockey and registered 7 goals, 26 assists, and 153 penalty minutes to date. “We are thrilled for Ben to be leading our team this season, he leads by example and we see it every day. He has the respect of all of his peers, and he is a player and person that would do anything for his teammates” stated Bobcats Head Coach and General Manager Nigel Dube. Bygrove has been a part of the rebuild which began in the 2019 season and had his personal best this past season along with the organizations. “Ben has been an instrumental piece of getting the culture of our organization to where it is today, his character and maturity is a big factor, and he wants to be a winner every day. We look forward to him and the leadership continuing to build on last year from day one of camp in August” finished Dube.
