Lloydminster, AB – The Lloydminster Bobcats are thrilled to sign local defenseman Oakley Mcilwain for the 2022-23 season! Mcilwain played last season for the Lloydminster Bobcats U18AAA program where he posted 7 goals and 11 assists in 38 games while adding 42 penalty minutes.
The 6’3″ – 200 pound defenseman will add size to the Bobcats defensive core next season when the puck drops in September. “Oakley is a very big and mobile defenseman we see a ton of upside in his future and are excited to keep him in the Border City for his junior career” stated Bobcats General Manager and Head Coach Nigel Dube. Last season with the U18AAA Bobcats Mcilwain was voted the most dedicated player on his team, “everyone we talk to speaks to his dedication of being the best hockey player and person he can be every day, we seen it this spring when he was putting on the miles to find ice and continue to develop, we spoke to his off-ice trainers at GRIT and they spoke volumes to the work he put in. These are values we look for in our players, he has them” finished Dube.
