With three goalies on the roster, the Lloydminster Bobcats have trimmed that number down to two with a recent trade.
The Bobcats have traded Liam McCloskey (’98) to the Weyburn Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League for a Player Development Fee.
A native of Pitt Meadows, BC, McCloskey was acquired by the Bobcats earlier this season in a trade with the Kindersley Klippers.
In his time with the Cats, McCloskey appeared in five games and recorded a 3.36 GAA and a .890 Save Percentage.
“I want to thank Liam for his time with the Bobcats,” said Bobcats Head Coach and GM Travis Clayton. “He helped us a win a couple of important games and played well when given the chance. However, there isn’t enough playing time to go around for three goalies, so we felt it was in the best interest of Liam and the club to make this move.”
With McCloskey now in Weyburn, the Bobcats crease will consist of Nick Sanders and Pierce Diamond.
The season continues for Lloydminster on Thursday with a visit to Fort McMurray. After that, the Cats will head to Sherwood Park on Friday.
