Lloydminster, AB ? The Lloydminster Bobcats are thrilled to sign two defensemen in St Albert Raider?s Tyson Kowaluk and Newbridge Academy Ryan Nause.
Kowaluk played 33 games last season with the Raiders tallying 16 points in 33 games and contributing to the Raiders? successful season winning the Mac?s tournament in Calgary over the Christmas break and playing the Calgary Buffaloes in the Alberta Midget Hockey League finals. Aside from being a major contributor to his midget hockey team, he is also a star athlete in baseball. Kowlauk can be defined as a smooth skating, smart decision-making defenseman. ?We really like Tyson?s smarts and ability to make plays, he does not get in a lot of trouble as he does a great job of recognizing what is around him and is one step ahead of the play. We are big fans of his multi-sport ability and passion for sports in general. Outside of his sports ability his quiet leadership qualities fit into the culture we are building with the Bobcats? commented Head Coach & GM Nigel Dube.
Nause is a native of Riverview, New Brunswick and played for the Newbridge Academy. One would look at Nause?s scouting report as a smooth skating defenseman who has ability to move pucks up the ice and advance the play. Bobcats may be familiar with the program he was a part of as it is the same as former captain and Cats? stand out Zach Kaiser was in at Bishop College School. ?Ryan was identified to us out of a USHL camp, he and his family were able to give former Bobcats Captain Zach Kaiser a call to ask about the community and what hockey meant to the people here in Lloydminster, We are excited to be adding Ryan to our defensive core!? added Dube. ?Lloydminster fans and the community are such great supporters of our team and hockey. It is a great place for junior players to advance their careers.?
