Lloydminster, AB – Lloydminster Bobcats Head Coach and General Manager Nigel Dube will be turning in his whistle and whiteboard this Sunday for a peddle bike as the second annual Bike for Breakfast event takes place in Lloydminster! Last year’s Bike for Breakfast group road over 1,100 kilometers across Saskatchewan raising nearly three hundred thousand dollars to help feed breakfast to youth in Lloydminster and surrounding area, this year’s event welcomes anyone who wants to join in on riding around the Border City.
The event will kick off Sunday, June 12th with riders having the option to bike 20,40,80, or 160 kilometers on a designated route beginning at Inland Steel with the goal of raising $100,000! Riders are able to select their distance and make a donation to join, encouraging everyone to jump on their bike on Sunday and take part. The group is encouraging community members who are not riding to head out to Inland Steel on Sunday from 12-4PM as there will be live music, a donation BBQ, and the excitement of welcoming bikers back after completing their ride! For those unable to make the event or ride are still able to donate to the cause on the link included below.
“It will be an exciting day for those who jump on their bike and ride and for those who choose to stop by the event. The support for Bike for Breakfast is amazing, the ultimate goal is to make sure no child has to start their school day hungry; every dollar is making sure children are fed” stated Dube. The current amount raised at the time of this article was $74,433. “We see community support in so many forms in the Border City, everyone involved wants to make sure our youth in Lloydminster and surrounding area are taken care of” finished Dube.
