Bobcats Community Partnership

Lloydminster, AB – The Lloydminster Bobcats are proud to be joined by GFL Full Circle Program to be donating dollars back to the Lloydminster Community Youth Centre apart of the Spark Foundation of Lloydminster! A new intermission game, where fans will shoot pucks at GFL garbage and recycling bins to reveal a dollar amount which will be donated to the LCYC! Fans will have the chance to help send between $5 and $1,500 in donations delivered from the Lloydminster GFL Full Circle Program!

GFL has been providing services to Lloydminster and surrounding communities for several years now. Through our time servicing Lloydminster, it has become apparent of the type of community, culture, and support that this city has for one another. Many of us here at GFL are raising families in Lloydminster or have generations of family that call Lloydminster home, and we are at a point now where we want to really focus on building relationships and partnerships with the organizations in town that are driving positive change and pushing for the success of Lloydminster and its community members futures. Lloydminster is our home, and we want to be a part of its future success in the many years to come.

It’s an important relationship for GFL Manager Bradly Elliot, “When we first started chatting with Nigel and the Bobcats we were really drawn to the involvement and commitment that the organization has with giving back to Lloydminster. We had sponsored the bobcats previously but were really looking to do something a bit different this year with the support of GFL’s full circle program. By partnering with the Bobcats, it will not only allow us to give back financially to a great organization, but it also gives us an opportunity to be involved during games and to really get to network and divulge with the members of our community in a way we haven’t been able to before. Anyone who knows Lloydminster knows what an impact hockey and sport in general has on our community. It is because of this and the work that the bobcats do for Lloydminster already that really drove us to this collaboration. We are very excited to see how we can expand this relationship further in years to come and we look forward to being a part of the positive growth and change in our community moving forward!”

Lloydminster Community Youth Centre offers 24 hours of drop-in Recreation and Support programming each week, providing a fun, safe place for youth 12- 18 to hang out after school. LCYC receives more than 6000 visits each year! Our facilitators offer safe rides to and from the centre, hot meals, and engaging programing. Facilitators build strong relationships with our participants, supporting youth to develop positive identity, skills for healthy relationships and capacity to face challenges.

The Lloydminster Bobcats are grateful to be a part of this initiative, “it was an honour for our program to be approached by Bradly and the crew at GFL for this initiative, the Lloydminster Community Youth Centre is a big part of the Border City and we are happy to see funding being provided to them. This unique intermission gave is going to allow our fans to feel directly connected to sending funds to the program as well!” stated Bobcats General Manager Nigel Dube.

The intermission game is set to begin on Saturday, November 23rd at the Centennial Civic Centre. Be in attendance and have the opportunity to have donations delivered by shooting to score at a bin! The Lloydminster Bobcats are a community operated organization and proud to be involved in helping other programs in the Border City!
