The Lloydminster Jr. A Bobcats are pleased to announce that 20 year old Forward Braden Crone (Sexsmith, AB) has committed to attend and play for the Concordia (WIS) University Falcons of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA – NCAA Div. 3) for the upcoming 2014-2015 season. Concordia University Wisconsin is located in Mequon, WIS. and plays out of the Ozaukee Ice Center. This NCAA-Division III School is coached by Jasen Wise.
Braden was obtained by the Bobcats at the start of the 2012-13 Season. Braden played a total of 235 Games in the AJHL with the Grande Prairie Storm and the Lloydminster Bobcats. Over his career Braden tallied 65 goals and 51 assists for a total of 116 points, both in the regular season and playoffs. Braden played an important role with the Bobcats over the past two seasons by contributing in all aspects of the game. He was responsible defensively, a powerful skater, and contributed in a consistent offensive manner as well. Braden was one of the primary reasons that The Bobcats were able to climb out of the basement in the 2012-13 Season to a very successful 3rd place finish in the 2013-14 Season.
Braden is the 1st Bobcat Player from this year’s team to secure a post-secondary scholarship. However other graduating Bobcats Players are presently negotiating opportunities to continue their Education with Hockey with both the NCAA Div. 1 as well as the CIS.
Head Coach Jasen Wise of the Concordia University Falcons quoted “We have had our eye on Braden for the last couple of years. Braden's skill set and coach ability make him a valuable asset to our program. He will be a major factor on our power play and we look forward to seeing him in royal blue and white this fall.”
The Lloydminster Bobcats organization would like to take this opportunity congratulate Braden and his family and wish him all the best in his future endeavours both academically and athletically.
