Field Set for RBC Cup

The 2016 RBC Cup will officially kick off on Saturday, May 14th with an afternoon matinee to get the tournament started.

Over the course of two days this past weekend, the four teams who will be joining the Lloydminster Bobcats in the National Championship were all determined.

Representing the East Region will be the Carleton Place Canadians (Central Canada Hockey League, making their third straight trip to the RBC Cup after knocking off the Woodstock Slammers (Maritime Hockey League) in the final game of the Fred Page Cup.

Coming out of the Dudley Hewitt Cup in the Central Region, the Trenton Golden Hawks (Ontario Junior Hockey League) punched their ticket to the tournament with a victory over the Soo Thunderbirds (Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League). This is the Golden Hawks first appearance in the RBC Cup in franchise history

In total, three teams will be representing the West Region as the host Lloydminster Bobcats will be joined by the top two teams from the Western Canada Cup, which was played in Estevan, SK.

On Saturday, the West Kelowna Warriors (British Columbia Hockey League) topped the Brooks Bandits (Alberta Junior Hockey League) to earn the number one seed out of the West in the championship game. With the loss, the Bandits were put into a final play-in game against the Portage Terriers (Manitoba Junior Hockey League), pulling out a victory to earn their way to Lloydminster.
