Five Bobcats Sign NCAA Letters of Intent

It was a big day yesterday for five current Bobcats, as they signed their Letters of Intent (LOI), formalizing their verbal agreements to play Division I hockey at a collegiate level after their junior careers.

Cole Josefchak, Alex Pernitsky, Kevin Darrar, Nick Quillan, and Evan Tschumi all officially ended the recruiting process by signing LOI's to play with their respective schools.

Heading to Colorado College in Colorado Springs are Josefchak and Pernitsky, a pair of defencemen each in their second season with the Bobcats. For Quillan and Tschumi, the two players will be moving east to attend Colgate University in Hamilton, NY when their time with the Bobcats comes to an end. And for Darrar, the current leading scorer on the 'Cats, he'll be playing hockey and getting his education at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Following a verbal commitment to the school, the NLI is a binding agreement between the student-athlete and the school that ensures that the school will provide athletics financial aid for one year, and the student will attend the school full-time for one year. The penalty if the student leaves the school early is that they must attend another school full-time for one year before they are eligible to compete in athletics. Upon signing the NLI, a recruiting prohibition for the student-athlete is put in place for all other institutions.

In total, eight players on the current Bobcats roster have committed to play NCAA Division I Hockey, with Christian Lloyd (Sacred Heart University), Troy Van Tetering (University of Alaska Fairbanks), and Noah Bauld (Cornell University) being the others.
