Former Bobcat Holtby Gets Team Canada Invite

Former Lloydminster Bobcat Braden Holtby (2004-05) of the NHL's Washington Capitals is one of 47 players invited to Hockey Canada's Olympic summer orientation camp in preparation for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The Lloydminster-born goaltender will be one of five goaltenders competing for three spots on the team along with Corey Crawford (Chicago), Roberto Luongo (Vancouver), Carey Price (Montreal), and Mike Smith (Phoenix).

Holtby is coming off an impressive 2012-13 season that saw him post a .920 save percentage with four shutouts as the starting goaltender for the Capitals.

As a hometown hero, Holtby continues to give back to his community, making appearances at the Bobcats Summer Hockey School and joining fellow NHLers Scott Hartnell and Clarke MacArthur to present the 2013 Hartnell – MacArthur – Holtby Celebrity Golf Classic, which took place in Lloydminster on June 25th. The Bobcats organization would like to congratulate Braden on this tremendous honour and wish him the best of luck at the pre-Olympic camp.
