GAME DAY: A New Beginning Starts Tonight for the Bobcats

Although already 21 games into the season, it’s a brand new beginning Wednesday night for the Lloydminster Bobcats (5-15-1) when the play host to the Grand Prairie Storm (11-10-2). Wednesday’s game will mark the debut of Bobcat’s new Head Coach and General Manager, Nigel Dube, who was hired by Lloydminster on Monday. With only a couple of skates with the team under his belt, Dube and Assistant Coach, Chris St. Jacques will be hitting the ground running. All of Wednesday’s action can be heard live on Real Country 95.9 beginning at 7:15.

Heading In: Grizzlys Claw Past Cats

Despite controlling a good portion of the play and most of the shots, the Lloydminster Bobcats were unable to get their power-play going and ultimately fell to the Olds Grizzlys Saturday night at the Civic Centre. The Bobcats went 0 for 9 with the man-advantage, while the Grizzlys used a pair of second period goals to secure a 4-1 win. Rookie defenceman Camden Gallagher scored his first career Junior ‘A’ in the final minute of the defeat.

Head to Head

So far this season, the Lloydminster Bobcats and Grand Prairie Storm have met once. That game, which took place at the Civic Centre in October, ultimately resulted in a 5-2 Grand Prairie victory. Mason Waite and Bekkam Willis both scored their first career Bobcat goals in that contest. Wednesday will be the second game of their six-game season series.

Creating a Culture

After a whirlwind of a week for the Lloydminster Bobcat’s organization, Wednesday should bring back some normalcy to the team. The Cats will hit the ice on Wednesday knowing that their new Head Coach/GM is in place and ready to build. Coming off of a weekend that saw a tough couple of losses amongst the change, the new stability will go a long way as the Cats begin to build a new winning culture.
