Heading In: Bobcats Power Past Grizzlys With Seven Different Goal Scorers
The Lloydminster Bobcats started 2018 the same way they ended 2017, with a win. The Cats picked up their fourth straight victory with a 7-3 win over the Olds Grizzlys Friday night at the Civic Centre. It marked the sixth straight game at home the Bobcats have won. It is the second time this season that Lloydminster has put together a four game winning streak. Braydon Jenkins, Kobe Walker, Zach Ziegler, Carson Franklin, Daniel HIlsendager, Ryan Spence and Tucker Scantlebury all scored for the Cats in win over Olds. Lloydminster also scored a power-play goal, which marks their third straight game scoring on the man-advantage.
Head to Head
Tonight is the fifth of six meetings between the Lloydminster Bobcats and Fort McMurray Oil Barons. If you subtract the first contest between these two, the season series has been very tight. After The MOB rolled the Cats 7-1 in Fort McMurray’s home-opener, the three games since have all come down to a pulled goalie late, with the Barons winning two of those three. The home team has won every game so far in this series, meaning the Bobcats only win over Fort McMurray came at the Civic on November 17 (4-3 OT). These two teams will wrap up the season series January 27th in Lloydminster.
Goin' Streaking
Friday night's win over the Olds Grizzlys marked the second time this season that the Lloydminster Bobcats have won four games in a row. The first streak, which came in the middle of November saw the Cats defeat the likes of the Spruce Grove Saints, the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, Drayton Valley Thunder and Grand Prairie Storm. This time, the streak is highlighted by two wins over Whitecourt, sandwiched between victories over Drayton Valley and Olds. Their recent winning ways have them within striking distance of Bonnyville as well. Just one point back of the Yaks, Lloydminster could pass their rivals tonight and jump into sixth in the North Division.
