GAME DAY: Bobcats Look to Continue Winning Ways at Home in Battle With Grizzlys

The Lloydminster Bobcats (14-22-2) have been on fire at the Civic Centre lately, and they’ll hope that trend continues tonight when they host the Olds Grizzlys (15-23-1). Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. at the Centennial Civic Centre. In their most recent outing, the Bobcats came from behind twice to take down the Whitecourt Wolverines 3-2 on Saturday. The Grizzlys last game was played last night in Spruce Grove, where they fell 6-2 to the North-Division leading Saints. Tonight is the second and final meeting between the two clubs in 2017-18, The Grizzlys took the first meeting 5-3. The game can be heard starting at 7:15 with Lloydminster Bobcats Hockey on Real Country 95.9.

Heading In: Bobcats End 2017 On a High Note With Sweep of Wolverines
The Lloydminster Bobcats could not have had a better start to the Post-Christmas schedule. Hosting the Whitecourt Wolverines for a two-game weekend series, the Cats clawed both Whitecourt in both games, winning 2-1 and 3-2. On Friday, it was Nick Sanders picking up the win in goal for Lloydminster with a 39 save performance, while Pierce Diamond back the Cats to Saturday’s win, stopping 33 of the 35 shots he faced. The victories pulled the Cats within three points of Bonnyville for 6th in the North, and just seven points back of Grand Prairie for 4th.

Head to Head
Tonight is the second and final meeting between the Bobcats and Grizzlys. The first of which came back on December 15 in Olds. Despite holding a 1-0 lead after one period of play, the Bobcats surrendered four goals in the second period en-route to a 5-3 defeat. Kobe Walker scored twice in the game and Tucker Scantlebury found the back of the net as well.

Zach Attack
Second year Bobcat’s forward Zach Kaiser had himself a December to remember. The Orangeville, Ontario product tallied at least one point in each game during the final month of 2017, giving him a ten-game point streak. Kaiser went on to finish the month with 6 goals and 7 assists. For the season, Kaiser is second in scoring for Lloydminster with 14 goals and 14 assists. He also leads the team with four short-handed goals.
