Riding a two game win streak, the Lloydminster Bobcats (2-3-0) will try and make it three wins in a row Friday afternoon against the Calgary Mustangs (4-1-0). It will be the beginning of the Bobcat’s two games at Showcase in Camrose, and the first of three games this season against the Mustangs. Puck drop for Friday’s game is scheduled for 1:00pm.
Heading In: Bobcats Win Penalty Filled Affair in Drayton Valley
Hitting the road for a Tuesday night date in Drayton Valley with the Thunder, the Lloydminster Bobcats came away with a 3-2 win in a penalty filled affair. In a contest that saw both teams going back and forth, and 17 minor penalties called, it was Tucker Scantlebury putting home the winner late, securing the Bobcats a second straight win.
Head to Head
Last season, these two teams played twice, with each team winning at home. The Mustangs defeated Lloydminster in Calgary in late October, before the Bobcats returned the favour at the Civic Centre in January. With them playing at Showcase, they will play each other three teams over the course of the 2018-19 season.
Bobcats Look to Slow Down Former Teammates
After they both started the 2017-18 season with the Lloydminster Bobcats, Brady Barclay and Daniel Rybarik wound up with the Mustangs through different trades. Both forwards put up big numbers in their first season with the ‘Stangs, with Rybarik posting 27 goals and 24 assists, while Barclay put up 16 goals and 25 assists. Shutting down the two former Cats will go a long way in Lloydminster’s efforts to secure a third straight win Friday afternoon.
