GAME DAY: Bobcats Off to Drayton Valley in Search of Second Straight Win

With their first victory now out of the way, following a 4-3 (SO) victory over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, the Lloydminster Bobcats (1-3-0) will now try for a second straight victory taking on the Drayton Valley Thunder (2-2-0) Tuesday night. It will be the Bobcats first visit to Drayton Valley this season and their second road game overall. Heading In: Cats Use Shoot-Out to Secure First Win

Finding themselves in an early season desperate situation, the Lloydminster Bobcats managed to hold on late on Saturday night to defeat the Fort McMurray Oil Barons 4-3 in a shoot-out to secure their first win. Twice, the Cats were able to build two goal leads, including a 3-1 advantage in the third period, before The MOB stormed back with two unanswered goals, sending the game beyond regulation. In the shoot-out, both Austin Lamotte and Zach Kaiser scored, while Cale Elder denied Reed Morison and Kole Gable.

Head to Head

In the six meetings between the two teams last season, the Bobcats won the season series over the Thunder winning five of the games. Drayton Valley's lone win over the Cats came in early January in a 4-0 shutout at the Omniplex. In Lloydminster's five victories over the Thunders, the Cats outscored Drayton Valley 24-7. Tuesday night will be the first of six meetings betwwen the two squads, with their next match up taking place on October 6th in Lloydminster.

Lamb ‘Hunts’ Down First Career AJHL Goal                                                         

Playing in just his fourth career Albert Junior Hockey League regular season game, Bobcat’s rookie forward Hunter Lamb netted his first career AJHL goal. Driving towards the net hard on a 2-on-1, Lamb tipped home a perfect pass from Austin Lamotte, which at the time gave the Bobcat’s a 3-1 lead over The MOB Saturday night. Lamb, who comes to Lloydminster from Swift Current, having spent the last three seasons with the Midget ‘AAA’ Legionnaires. Playing in 133 career regular season games with Swift Current, Lamb tallied 45 goals and 82 assists for 127 career points. Hunter, is the son of Stanley Cup champion, Mark Lamb.
