GAME DAY: Cats Head South to Battle Dragons

Following a much needed win Sunday afternoon over the defending Viterra South Division champion Okotoks Oilers, the Lloydminster Bobcats (5-10-1) will look to win two straight games for the second time this season Saturday night in Drumheller against the Dragons (13-6-0). Saturday’s game is the second of three in a row against the Viterra South Division. Coming into the contest, the Bobcats are 1-1-1 against the South. They’ll then finish up their weekend road trip in Camrose with a game on Sunday against the Kodiaks.

Heading In: Elder, Nivon Leads Cats Past Defending South Division Champs

Cale Elder made 32 saves and Rylan Nivon found the back of the net twice, as the Lloydminster Bobcats ending a mini two game slide with a 3-1 victory over the Okotoks Oilers. Catching the Oilers at the end of their norther road trip, the Cats capitalized on their chances, scoring three times on 18 shots in the contest. Tucker Scantlebury had scored the other goal for Lloydminster when he opened the scoring just 2:59 into the game.

Head to Head

To this point in the season, the Lloydminster Bobcats and Drumheller Dragons have yet to square off. Being an inter-division match-up, the two teams will only play twice during the 2018/19 season. Last year, the Cats defeated the Dragons at showcase, and in the Civic Centre, but lost in their only trip to Drumheller. Following Saturday night’s contest, the two teams will play each other again on December 2nd in the Border City.

Life Without the Captain

For just the second time since he joined the Bobcats prior to the 2016/17 season, forward Zach Kaiser will not be in the line-up due to an injury. Kaiser, who left the game against Okotoks after a hit, is the Bobcat’s leading scorer and will leave very large skates to be filled for however long his absence results to be. The team will look for the forward depth to step-up and take the lead, as the Cats begin life without their captain.
