GAME DAY: Cats Head West to Battle Storm

The Lloydminster Bobcats (8-28-1) are back in the win column and now looking to make it two straight victories Friday night when they pay their first visit of the season to Grande Prairie to take on the Storm (18-18-2). Friday will mark the first of three very quick meetings in Grande Prairie. The Cats will battle the Storm again on Saturday night before returning to G.P. on January 16. All the action can be heard live on Real Country 95.9 beginning at 7:15.

Heading In: Cats Out-Claw Wolverines in Wednesday Night Win

With three different goal scorers and 30 saves from Curtis Meger, the Lloydminster Bobcats found their way back into the win column. Playing host to the Whitecourt Wolverines on a Wednesday night, the Bobcats put an end to an eight-game slide with a 3-2 victory. While the win snapped the Cats skid, it also extended the Wolverines losing streak to four straight games. Reid Irwin, Logan Bromhead and Ethan Mack found the back of the net for the Cats in the victory.

Head to Head

Having only played each other two times so far this season, the Lloydminster Bobcats are still seeking their first win against the Storm. Grande Prairie has been able to get the better of the Cats in both meetings winning 5-2 and 2-1. That 2-1 victory was the first game under Head Coach and General Manager, Nigel Dube, and it nearly saw the Cats tie the game in the final minute. The Bobcats will play the Storm two more times this month before rounding out the season series at home in February.

Scantlebury on the Move

With the January 10th trade deadline quickly approaching, the Lloydminster Bobcats have elected to make a move. The Cats have traded ’98-born forward Tucker Scantlebury to his home province of Manitoba, in a deal that sees Scantlebury go to the Swan Valley Stampeders in exchange for Future Considerations. The Stampeders currently sit second in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League standings. Since being acquired from Melville in October of last season, the Foxwarren, Manitoba product went on to put up 21 goals and 33 assists in 76 regular season games with Lloydminster.
