Following a season opening loss last night in Spruce Grove, the Lloydminster Bobcats (0-1-0) will look to return the favour tonight when they host the Saints (1-0-0) at the Centennial Civic Centre. In last night’s season opening game, the Saints used four unanswered goals to defeat Lloydminster 5-2. Heading In: Bobcats Look to Build off Crowd’s Energy in Home Opener
After playing in front of a capacity crowd last night at the Grant Fuhr Arena, the Bobcats will be able to use the loud crowd to their advantage tonight when they host their home opener at the Civic Centre. Home ice was a big factor regular season last year for the Cats going 17-10-2 in front of their home fans. Over the past four seasons, the Bobcats have gone 3-1 in their home opener.
Head to Head
Playing their first game of the season last night, the Saints took game one of the seasons series between the two teams. Using five different goal scorers, Spruce Grove took down Lloydminster 5-2. Dating back to last season, Spruce Grove has now won six of their last seven meetings with the Cats, and have secured at least a single point in each of the seven games. The Bobcats lone win of the season over the Saints last season took place at the Civic Centre.
Zach Kaiser Picks up Where he Left off
After going on an absolute tear after Christmas last season, finishing with a 31 goal campaign and 58 total points, Bobcat’s third year forward Zach Kaiser quickly found his way back onto the scoresheet in game one. Wearing an ‘A’ for the team this season, it took Kaiser just eight minutes and 34 seconds to tally his first goal of the year. Kaiser’s goal marked the second straight season in which he scored in the Cat’s first game, and three straight season opener in which he registered a point.
