GAME DAY: Cats Return Home to Host Cru

Presents have been opened, turkey has been eaten, and family time has been celebrated and enjoyed, and now it’s back to hockey! The Lloydminster Bobcats (7-27-1) return from their Christmas break Friday night when they play host to the Viterra North Division leading Sherwood Park Crusaders (27-6-2). All the action can be heard live on Real Country 95.9 beginning at 7:15.

Heading In: Bobcat’s Third Period Flurry Not Enough in Loss to Oilers

Playing the final game of a three game three-day southern road swing, a slow start put the Lloydminster Bobcats behind the eight-ball, but a no-quit attitude nearly brought them back from a large deficit. Trialing the Okotoks Oilers 5-0 after two periods of play, the Bobcats scored three straight goals, coming off the sticks of ‘AP’ Jared Miller, Ryley Hogan and Rin Beny. Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Cats would get in a 5-3 defeat.

Head to Head

Through four games of the six game season series between these two teams, the Sherwood Park Crusaders have had the upper hand. The Cru have won all four meetings to this point. In their most recent outing though, the Bobcats came back from a 2-0 third period deficit to tie the game at two, before Sherwood Park regained the lead and went on to win 3-2. This will be the final meeting of the regular season between these two teams that takes place at the Civic Centre.

Back to Work

With the Christmas break now in the rear-view mirror, the Bobcats are back at it following an eleven day stretch in between games. As the team continues towards building a winning culture and strong foundation, the break served as a way to take some time to themselves and come back refreshed and ready to roll down the stretch. It’s not an easy start to the post-game Christmas schedule with Sherwood Park and Spruce Grove rolling into town, but it is one that allows the Cats to get right back into the swing things.
