Seeking a second straight win, the Lloydminster Bobcats (9-35-1) are back on home ice Wednesday night when they host the Viterra South division’s Camrose Kodiaks (22-16-5). In a slow week for the Cats, Wednesday night marks their only game of the week. They will head to Bonnyville next Wednesday to resume their schedule afterwards. All the action can be heard live on Real Country 95.9 beginning at 7:15.
Heading In: Third Period Flurry; Elder’s Return Leads Cats Past MOB
Back at home and Cale Elder back from injury, the Lloydminster Bobcats fought all night on Friday and came away with an upset victory over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons to split the six game season series. Behind 40 saves from their netminder, who was playing in his first game since December 15, and five different goal scores, the Bobcats came from behind to defeat The MOB 5-3. Trailing 3-2 after two periods, Lloydminster scored three times in the third to secure the win. Hunter Lamb, Ty Mosimann, Logan Bromhead, Jordan Borysiuk and Breydon Berthold had the Bobcat’s goals.
Head to Head
Being in different divisions, the Lloydminster Bobcats and the Camrose Kodiaks do not get to see each other very often. However, they have played one game this season prior to Wednesday’s contest. In Camrose in early November, the Kodiaks defeated the Bobcats 7-1. Last season these two squads play two very close games, with Camrose winning each game in overtime.
Battling Some Familiar Faces
Not only is Bobcat’s Head Coach and GM, Nigel Dube very familiar with the guys on his team, he’ll also know quite a bit about his opponents Wednesday night when he takes on the team he was hired from back in November. Having spent the 2017/18 season as well as the start of this season with the Kodiaks as their Assistant Coach, he will now face his former team for the first time since joining Lloydminster. The Cats will be hoping that some of that familiarity can help lead them to their second straight win.
