GAME DAY: Spider-Cats Look to Apprehend Bandits

It's superhero night in Lloydminster, and now that the losing skid has come to an end, the Lloydminster Bobcats (6-17-1) will look to use their superpowers when they host the league leading Brooks Bandits (22-2-0) Friday night. The Bandits, who dropped their season opening game have only lost once since September 14th, so the Bobcats will need to be at their best to try and take down the 2019 RBC Cup host. All the action can be heard live on Real Country 95.9 beginning at 7:15.

Heading In: Two-Goal Third Period Propels Bobcats Past Wolverines

For the third straight game, the exact same script had been written out for the Lloydminster Bobcats heading into the third period. This time, however, they changed the ending. All tied up after two periods of play, the Bobcats showed they were not going to be denied in a third straight game, scoring two third period goals en-route to a 5-3 road victory over the Whitecourt Wolverines. Tied 3-3 just over five minutes into the third period, Logan Bromhead broke the deadlock to give the Cat’s a 4-3 lead before Tucker Scantlebury scored five minutes later to make it 5-3. Chance Adrian, Rylan Nivon and Hunter Lamb also scored for Lloydminster, while Curtis Meger made 31 saves in the win.

Head to Head

Friday night will mark the first meeting of the season between the Brooks Bandits and Lloydminster Bobcats, with their only other meeting taking place February 8th in Brooks. Lately, the Bandits have had the Bobcat’s number taking the last four games in a row against Lloydminster. The Bobcat’s last victory over Brooks was February 27, 2016. A streak they’d like to snap on Friday.

Dube Earns First Win With Bobcats

After his first two career games behind the bench for the Lloydminster Bobcats resulted in very close losses, the Lloydminster Bobcats broke through Saturday night in Whitecourt when they defeated the Wolverines 5-3. The victory was a welcomed sign for the Bobcats to finally get a full two points after being left shy by just inches in their first two games under Dube. It is hopefully the first of many wins in Dube’s career as the Head Coach and General Manager of the Lloydminster Bobcats.
