Lloydminster, AB – Andrew Gilbert is set to begin his 7th season tomorrow morning at the Lloydminster Bobcats Main Camp and will do so with a new title as Assistant General Manager. Gilbert, who joined the organization in November of 2018 has served as the Director of Player Personnel and now has been promoted to the new role.
“Andrew has been an integral part of our organization since joining the Bobcats in 2018 and has been instrumental in building this program to what it is today” said Bobcats General Manager Nigel Dube. Gilbert, who is from Lethbridge, AB has overseen the scouting staff and recruiting efforts, “he works behind the scenes, not someone you see every day with our program but a familiar face in every rink also with our players and their families. He represents our organization in every way of how we operate and never looks for credit. The relationships he has built with our recruits and their families is a big part of why they are in the Border City” added Dube.
Gilbert spent time as a player in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Brooks Bandits before going on to USports with the University of Lethbridge, after a successful playing career he was able to move into a scouting role in the league.
Gilbert is excited about the opportunity, “I’m very thankful for the opportunity that has been given to me by Nigel Dube and the many community members involved with the program. Since day one we have focused on continuing the strong tradition of junior hockey in Lloydminster and I’m extremely humbled and excited to embrace the new challenges this role presents. Nigel and I both arrived in Lloydminster together and it has always been our goal to bring this city a championship and we are hopeful that the foundation has been set to take that next step as an organization. This is an amazing organization to work for and I’m very thankful for the trust Nigel has put in me over the years. Lastly, Im very thankful for the support and patience of my family for allowing me to pursue this opportunity with the Bobcats.”
The Bobcats are happy to have Andrew and his family a part of the organization!
