Give N’ Goals Announced

Lloydminster, AB – The Lloydminster Junior A Bobcats and Boundary Ford, through the Boundary Ford Gives Foundation, are excited to announce every time the “˜Cats score a goal, Boundary Ford Gives will donate $25 to the Lloydminster Community Youth Centre as part of Give N’ Goals.

The Bobcats players presented the idea to Boundary Ford Marketing Manager Carly Pollard, who said “When Chad McLean met with me to present the dollar amount per goal initiative, we had a long conversation about what this community meant to him as well as his teammates. In the past Boundary Ford Gives has supported this initiative, but I knew we could do something that not only challenges the team but gets the community excited to join in and cheer the team on.”

With the initiative being brought to the table by the players in their efforts to help out and support the community who supports them through the entire season with some players having also been in the border city for multiple years. Bobcats Captain Chad MacLean explained, “I’ve played four years in this league and the community is what fuels these teams, so to be able to give something back to the community means a lot because they support us and come watch us every night.” It was also important to the players who feel fortunate in their upbringing to make sure others are looked after, MacLean added “My childhood was amazing, and I was given anything I ever wanted in life; I always had food on the table and always had a roof over my head, I was very privileged that way, so it’s nice to give back to some kids who might not be as lucky.”

It was also important for two organizations who share the same values “The Bobcats team is an excellent candidate to partner up with as through meeting with the team and explaining the challenge for the season, you can quickly see that both the Bobcats and Boundary Ford Gives share the same vision when it comes to giving back to this community” added Pollard.

The partnership has a lot of meaning to both organizations as the late Bob Troup was the leader behind the initiative originally. Troup, who was both a former longtime employee of Boundary Ford and a board member of the Bobcats would look after this each year. “I believe Give N Goals has such importance between the two organizations, it is extra special because the boys wanted to bring this back and we all know he would be so proud of that. It is also something he cared so much about during his time at Boundary, the legacy of him carries on. If there was ever a community event, he was always a part of it, so it all connects back to him” added Bobcats Head Coach & General Manager Nigel Dube.

The community importance will continue to be at the forefront of the initiative and the Bobcats are excited to work towards something much larger than the game of hockey every night. “This team has a lot of heart, and that was evident through their reaction to our partnership that they are and continue to be an integral part of this community” finished Pollard.

The Lloydminster Bobcats will take on the Olds Grizzlies on December 12th at 2:00PM in a Tribute Game to Bob Troup. Boundary Ford will have two locations and 100 free tickets available on a first come, first basis.
