Grizzlys Claw Past Cats

Despite controlling a good portion of the play and most of the shots, the Lloydminster Bobcats were unable to get their power-play going and ultimately fell to the Olds Grizzlys Saturday night at the Civic Centre.

The Bobcats went 0 for 9 with the man-advantage, while the Grizzlys used a pair of second period goals to secure a 4-1 win.

Olds got on the board first in the game midway through the first period when Ty Budai scored a power-play marker for the visitors.

Leading 1-0 after twenty minutes of play, it was Budai again finding the back of the net early in the second to double the lead.

Late in the frame, the Grizzlys managed to score again. With only 1:04 left in the period Colby Wolter broke into the Cat’s zone and managed to get the puck past Cale Elder on a second opportunity.

Continuing to trail 3-0 late in the third, the Bobcats pulled their goalie, but the puck wound up in the back of their net, when Wolter scored his second of the game.

The Bobcats were able to manage a late highlight in the contest. Rookie defenceman Camden Gallagher fired a low wrist-shot past Duncan Hughes. It was the first goal of his Bobcat’s career for the Boise, Idaho product.

However the is how the game would wind up as the Cats fell 4-1.

Olds wound up going 1 for 6 with the man-advantage, while the Bobcats outshot the Grizzlys 28-20.

Lloydminster will continue their season Wednesday night when they host the Grand Prairie Storm.
