Lloydminster, AB – The Lloydminster Bobcats have signed Eric Labrosse to a multiyear deal to be the next Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel! An extensive history in coaching with success, Labrosse joins the organization after winning the MJHL League Championship and earning a spot in the National Tournament this spring as well being named Coach of the Year in the previous season.

Over his career Labrosse has coached at the junior, major junior, university, and professional levels and will bring that knowledge and expertise to Lloydminster. “I’m incredibly excited about the challenge and opportunity to lead the Bobcats. We will be a relentless, hard-working group that will be exciting to watch. In order to achieve success, there needs to be alignment between players, coaches and an understanding of how we need to play as a team to achieve our objectives. Consistency and creating positive habits with our play night in, night out will be key to our growth as a group. We will focus on the details, the fundamentals, and the process, because that’s where the winning happens. Together with our players, I want our team to be successful on ice, as well as be a force of inspiration and pride in the community” explained Labrosse. In his previous two seasons as Head Coach & General Manager Labrosse’ teams have posted a 74-37-1-4 combined record in regular season with a 19-7 playoff record. He was also on the coaching staff for Canada West who captured a bronze medal at this year’s World Jr. A Challenge in Camrose. Labrosse is excited about joining the organization and community for next season, “I’m very much looking forward to the start of this new chapter and can’t wait for the 2025-2026 season to kick off in August. See you all soon at the rink!”

“Eric has an unbelievable work ethic and lives for the game, his attention to detail, structure, and ability to connect and communicate with players sets himself apart from others. It was important for us to add someone with experience as a head coach and success, which Eric has a lot of both” stated Bobcats General Manager Nigel Dube. “Having him at the helm of hockey operations will set our program up moving forward for years of success both on and off the ice.”

The Lloydminster Bobcats search for a head coach began when Jeff Woywitka informed the organization at the end of May, he would not be returning next season, the organization thanks Jeff for his time and wishes him the best in his future endeavors.
