On Saturday night, the Bobcats coaching staff as well as three players, joined by several other community members, took to the ice at the Civic Centre to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni in an exhibition game that closed the book on the 2016-17 season.
In addition to the coaching staff of Travis Clayton, Kris Wiebe, and Taylor Holt, Bobcats players Austin McGrath, Kobe Walker, and Daniel Hilsendager dawned the blue commemorative jersey to play against the Maple Leafs Alumni. The NHL veterans ended up winning the game 10-7.
After the game, fans who had VIP access were able to meet some of the Leafs players for an autograph signing just outside the Cats locker room. Joe Nieuwendyk, Rich Sutter and Dave Ellet were on hand signing cards, jerseys and whatever else fans asked; including quick photo ops.
The after party was also a big success, with the Leafs Alumni more than willing to tell some stories and mingle with fans until late into the evening.
The Bobcats would like to thank the following people and organizations:
Our presenting sponsors First General Lloydminster and Fountain Tire Lloydminster for making this event possible
Tara Slone and the rest of Hometown Hockey for covering the event and dropping the ceremonial puck
Columbine Coach Lines for providing transport services for the Maple Leafs Alumni
Days Inn and Suites Lloydminster for their hospitality all weekend
Make sure you stay tuned to the website and our social media streams during the off-season to find out the latest news on everything Lloydminster Bobcats.
**The Bobcats would also like to thank our sponsors, fans, volunteers, season ticket holders, and the rest of the community for the incredible amount of support we received this season.
We look forward to welcoming our prospects to town on the weekend of March 31-April 2 for our annual Spring Development Camp.
