Local Defenceman Schoettler Signs With Bobcats

The Lloydminster Bobcats are pleased to announce the signing of local prospect Ryan Schoettler of the Bandit Pipeline Midget AAA Bobcats.

Schoettler has enjoyed a strong start to the season with the AAA ‘Cats, scoring one goal and adding three assists from the blueline in six games played. In his second year with the Midget AAA Bobcats, Schoettler has already nearly matched last year’s point total, when he had two goals and five assists through 33 games. On October 14th, 2015, the 16 year-old defenceman made his AJHL debut as an affiliated player with the Bobcats, and was able to record his first assist early in the first period.

“Ryan is a solid, smart defenceman who we expect to make a strong contribution to the Bobcats program in the future,” said Bobcats Head Coach and General Manager Gord Thibodeau. “We are excited to welcome Ryan and his family to the Bobcats organization.”

Schoettler joins a long list of local players who have played junior hockey in Lloydminster, including professional players and prospects Wade Redden, Scott Hartnell, David Dziurzynski, and Brandon Baddock.
