About Peyton:
Peyton Walker is 15 years old in Grade 10 and is in her 4th year with the Lloydminster Steelers organization. During hockey season last year in February because of her chin strap rubbing, noticed a small lump on her neck that continued to grow and after a series of tests it was confirmed on April 18th that lump was in fact cancerous and had grown to her lymph nodes as well. She was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma which is the most aggressive childhood cancer and on April 26th she began her first of many rounds of chemotherapy at the Stollery Children’s hospital in Edmonton. Along with chemotherapy Peyton also travelled to Jacksonville Florida for 2 months of specialized radiation treatment they do not offer in Canada. She returned home in September and just yesterday completed week 24 of 67 straight weeks of chemotherapy. This is not an easy road but Peyton is a fighter and will not give up no matter what cancer tries to throw at her!! Peyton continues to be part of the Lloydminster PWM U18AAA female Steelers as much as possible, practicing when able, working out and taking part in all the team activities with her wonderful teammates she is so grateful for. Even though she will not likely play hockey again this year due to treatment, she is very proud to be part of the Steelers organization and community of Lloydminster and she thanks the Lloydminster Bobcats for everything they have done for her during this journey.
