RECAP: Bobcats Knocked Out of Playoff Contention in 7-4 Loss

With a four goal third period, the Whitecourt Wolverines knocked the Lloydminster Bobcats out of playoff contention, winning 7-4 at the Civic Centre Wednesday night.

Zach Webb, Kobe Walker, Rob Johnson, and Daniel Hilsendager lit the lamp for the Cats tonight, giving their team a 4-3 lead after two periods, but the Wolverines came storming back.

First it was a power play goal by Mitch Lipon in the opening minute of the third period, followed by three minutes later by Morgan Messenger's second goal of the night. Not done there, the Wolverines extended their lead to 6-4 courtesy of Liam Motley's second of the night with 12:16 to play.

The Bobcats would press, but ultimately Messenger sunk the final dagger with a hat trick goal to make it 7-4 in the dying minutes.

Combined with Drayton Valley's shootout win tonight, the Bobcats are now three points out of playoffs with one game left, and will not be participating in this year's Gas Drive Playoffs.
