The Fort McMurray Oil Barons jumped ahead late in the first period and never looked back as they skated to a 5-0 victory over the Lloydminster Bobcats at the Casman Centre Saturday night.
The MOB received contributions from all through the lineup as 10 players hit the score sheet. JC Thivierge, Mason Martin, Brandon Ralph, Kyler Newman, and Will Conley all found the back of the net in the contest as Fort McMurray moved to within one point of the AJHL-leading Spruce Grove Saints, with one game in hand.
Despite the lopsided score, Austin McGrath turned in a stellar performance for the Bobcats, coming up with 43 saves and keeping his team within a pair of goals through forty minutes. However, the goal support never came as the home team continued to carry the play through the final period. Final shots on goal favoured the Oil Barons 48-22.
The Bobcats will complete the three-game Thanksgiving weekend road swing with a 4:00PM date with the Bonnyville Pontiacs at the RJ Lalonde Arena on Sunday afternoon.
