RECAP: Kodiaks Strike With Pair in Third to Drop Bobcats

Camrose Kodiaks leading scorer Bryson Traptow scored two goals in the span of 0:16 at the start of the third period to give the visiting team a 3-1 lead over the hometown Lloydminster Bobcats, a score that held up as a final at the Centennial Civic Centre Friday night.

Daniel Hilsendager broke a Bobcats power play slump with his third goal of the year 5:01 into the first period to make it 1-0 for the home team, a lead that held up until midway through the second.

Just past the midway point of the second period, the Kodiaks knotted things up as Tate Coughlin ripped a one-timer past Bobcats goaltender Austin McGrath to pull the game back to even, which is how the second period ended.

The Kodiaks jumped ahead quickly in the third as Traptow scored 0:26 into the period and again 12 seconds later to increase the Kodiaks lead to 3-1, and after that point the visitors were able to stifle the Bobcats, allowing just 5 shots in the third period.

With McGrath on the bench late in the period, the Bobcats put on a but of a push but weren't able to get anything past Kodiaks goaltender Patrick Gora who made 21 saves on 22 shots.

The Bobcats will jump on the bus tomorrow for a rematch against the Kodiaks at Encana Arena at 7:00
