The Lloydminster Bobcats have traded forward Caden Benson to the Whitecourt Wolverines to complete the future considerations owed from a January 6th, 2017 trade that saw Rob Johnson acquired by the Bobcats.
Benson (’99) was brought to Lloydminster from the Spruce Grove Saints at the beginning of the 2016-17 season and appeared in 40 games with the team, scoring three goals to go with seven assists for 10 points in his rookie season. Prior to his AJHL career, Benson was a member of the St. Albert Raiders Midget AAA program, producing 18 points in 33 games in 2015-16.
Johnson came to the Bobcats just ahead of the 2017 trade deadline after stints with the Wolverines and the Surrey Eagles of the British Columbia Hockey League earlier in the season. The 1998-born forward made it to Lloydminster in time to appear in 24 games, scoring five goals and 15 assists for 20 points in that timeframe. Johnson will be expected to play a prominent role with the team as a 19 year-old in the upcoming season with the Bobcats before moving on to the NCAA ranks with Air Force Academy in 2018-19.
The Bobcats would like to thank Caden and his family for their commitment to the organization this past season.
