The ?Waite? is Over: Winnipeg Defenceman Commits to Bobcats

The Lloydminster Bobcats are excited to announce the signing of Mason Waite (00’).

Waite, a 6’2”, 190lbs defenceman comes to the Bobcats after spending the last two seasons with the Winnipeg Midget ‘AAA’ Wild, winning the Manitoba Midget ‘AAA’ Hockey League both seasons.

The blue-liner had a tremendous season in Winnipeg last year posting 10 goals and 41 assists in 48 regular season games, before adding one goal and eight more assists in 10 playoff games, all while serving as the team's captain.

“Mason is a highly skilled defenceman, who we were very eager to get signed,” said Bobcats Head Coach/GM Travis Clayton. “Now that he’s committed to us, we know he is going to provide some strong depth for our blue-line, and go a long way in solidifying what we expect to be a strong defensive core.”

Waite does come to the Bobcats with a small amount of Junior A experience as well. Last season he played three games with the Neepawa Natives of the MJHL.

“I’m excited to be playing with this young group of guys and can’t wait to see what kind of results we can get as a team this upcoming season,” said Waite. “I’m really looking forward to working with the coaching staff and getting settled into my new home in Lloydminster.”

Waite will be in Lloydminster at the start of July, when the Bobcats host their Top 40 Camp from July 6-8 at the Servus Sports Centre.
