Bobcats acquire Dunkle, Green

Bobcats Head Coach Ryan Parent announced Tuesday that the team has acquired forward Tanner Dunkle from the Olds Grizzlys in exchange for forward Matt Marcinew.

Dunkle, a ’93-born forward originally from Red Deer, Alberta, had 27 goals and 20 assists for 47 points in 60 games played for Olds in 2011-2012. So far in the 2012-2013 season, Dunkle has accumulated 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 21 games played. “Tanner was a physical player against us this year. He goes to the net hard, and will provide a hard-nosed offensive presence on our team,” said Parent.

In exchange, the Bobcats sent forward Matt Marcinew to the Olds Grizzlys. Marcinew had 11 goals and 6 assists for 17 points in 21 games played with the Bobcats so far in the 2012-2013 season.

The Bobcats have also acquired goaltender Devin Green from the Okotoks Oilers for future considerations. Green, a ’94-born goaltender originally from Calgary, Alberta, had 2 wins, 3 losses, and 1 tie in 6 games played for Okotoks so far in the 2012-2013 season. “Devin was the top goalie at the Mac’s tournament in 2011. He was a high-end goaltending prospect out of Alberta midget who put up strong numbers. We are pleased to have a goaltender of Devin’s calibre in our line-up,” said Parent.

Both Dunkle and Green are expected to be in the line-up for this weekend’s home games against the Drayton Valley Thunder. Puck drop for both games on Friday and Saturday is 7:30 PM.
