Cats Fall Late in Crazy Contest Against Storm

In a back and forth affair, the Lloydminster Bobcats came up just short in a 7-6 loss to in Grande Prairie to the Storm Friday night.

The Cats jumped out to a pair of three goal leads at 3-0 and 4-1, but each time the Storm continued to fight back before tying the game in the third and taking their first lead of the game in the late stages.

Midway through the first period the Bobcats scored a pair of power-play goals on a five minute major penalty against Xavier Pouliot.

First it was Breydon Berthold finding the back of the net, before Hunter Lamb scored just six seconds later.

Second-year defenceman Zach Ziegler then found the back of the net for his first of the season to make it 3-0.

After the Storm got on the board, the had a quick response with Chance Adrian scoring on the power-play just over four minutes later.

The Storm would tack on one more before the first period ended as Lloydminster carried a 4-2 lead into the break.

The two teams exchanged goals int he second with the Storm getting it start. Lamb put home his second of the game and Ty Mosimann added one as well. ??Heading into the third the Cats carried a 6-5 lead.

After Noah Corson completed the hat-trick for Grande Prairie midway though the third, the Storm took their first lead of the game when Bryce Osepchuk tipped home a Zach Webb shot with just 1:08 to play in the game.

The Osepchuk tip would go on to win the game.

The Storm outshot the Cats 35-24 in the game.

Lloydminster finished 3 for 9 on the power-play with Grande Prairie going 0 for 6.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night once again from Revolution Place.
