GAME DAY: Bobcats Host Drayton Valley for Final Time This Season

Following a tough weekend in Grande Prairie, the Lloydminster Bobcats (8-30-1) return home trying to secure their second straight home victory. The Cats will play host to the Drayton Valley Thunder (16-19-5) for the third and final time this season. Last time in the Civic Centre the Bobcats managed to get the better of the Whitecourt Wolverines, 3-2. All the action can be heard live on Real Country 95.9 beginning at 7:15.

Heading In: Cats Drop Second Straight to Storm

For the second straight night the Grande Prairie Storm stayed hot, while the Lloydminster Bobcats were unable to keep up Saturday night at Revolution Place. After the two teams went back and forth to a 7-6 finish on Friday, the Storm fired home another six goals on Saturday en-route to a 6-2 win over Lloydminster. Jordan Borysiuk and Ryley Hogan each found the back of the net in the defeat.

Head to Head

With four games already played between the Lloydminster Bobcats and the Drayton Valley Thunder, it’s been a season series which saw the Cats take an early advantage winning the first two games, before the Thunder responded by winning the next two. Following Wednesday night’s contest, the two teams will square off just one more time with that meeting taking place on February 16 in Drayton Valley.

Tightening Up Defensively

Looking to continue to build throughout the remainder of the season and make any kind of push they can, the Lloydminster Bobcats will try and get things back on track defensively in that effort. Over the first ten games since Head Coach/GM Nigel Dube took over the team, the gave up on average just 3.0 goals per game. Since then, the growing pains have started to show up a little bit. Surrendering 13 goals over the weekend in Grande Prairie, including 7 in a 7-6 loss Friday night, the Cats have hit a bit of turbulence in their defensive adjustments. The turbulence is to be expected though given all the system changes taking place. As the Bobcats try to get themselves back in the win column though, bringing the goals against number back down would go a long ways.
