GAME DAY: Cats Try to Split Season Series With MOB

After dropping a pair of mid-week road games with stops in Whitecourt and Grande Prairie, the Lloydminster Bobcats (8-35-1) return home on Friday night to host the Fort McMurray Oil Barons (21-14-7) for the third and final time this season. All the action can be heard live on Real Country 95.9 beginning at 7:15.

Heading In: Bobcats ‘Stormed’ in Grande Prairie

After tying the score 1-1 early in the second period Wednesday night in Grande Prairie, the Cats were unable to find much of a response afterwards when the Storm began to surge. Scoring eight unanswered goals between the second and third periods, the Storm rolled to a 9-2 victory over Lloydminster. Breydon Berthold and Jordan Borysiuk tallied the two Bobcat’s goals, while netminder Justin Vertesi made 35 saves.

Head to Head

The Lloydminster Bobcats and Fort McMurray Oil Barons will round out their season series on Friday night as they meet for the sixth time during the regular season. In what had been a very tightly contested first four games that saw the two teams both win twice and each game decided by one goal, The MOB decisively won the fifth meeting 11-2 over the Cats. Lloydminster will now look to return the favour on Friday and finish .500 against the Oil Barons for the season.

Home Sweet Home

Looking to get back into the win column, the Lloydminster Bobcats will be happy attempting to do so in the comfort of the Centennial Civic Centre. Coming of a tough two game mid-week trip that saw the team travel 1400km, the Cats will look to turn the page in front of their home crowd. Although the season has not gone as planned for Lloydminster up to this point, the home crowd has still been quite lively and a big help trying to give the Cats an edge in their building.
