Lloydminster, AB – Lloydminster Bobcats goaltender Garrett Larsen is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week. The rookie goalie posted the highest save percentage (.965%) of all AJHL netminders last week as he recorded a win versus the division leading Crusaders and pushed the Oil Barons to a shootout.
Larson stopped 51 of 53 shots on goal from the offensively charged Sherwood Park Crusaders on Wednesday night and led his team to a 5-2 win. On Saturday night, Larsen made 31 saves and allowed just one goal versus the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, but eventually fell 2-1 in the shootout. The 18 year-old earned the Viterra Star of the Game award in both games and has received the honour in four of his last five starts.
The Bobcats have three regular season games remaining in the 2019-2020 campaign.
