The Lloydminster Bobcats have signed goaltender Nicholas Sanders (’98).
Sanders, who had made six starts for the Bobcats as an ‘AP’ this season made the decision earlier this week that Lloydminster is where he wants to be.
“I’m really excited to get the opportunity to play for the Bobcats,” said Sanders. “We’ve got a good young core and I believe we’ll be able to make a push both this year and next.”
In his six starts with the Cats, “The Colonel” has recorded a 3-1-2 record to go along with a 2.39 GAA and a .928 Save %.
Bobcats Head Coach and General Manager Travis Clayton was very excited to get the Calgary native signed.
“On the ice, Nick is a tremendous goalie and gives our team a chance to win every night he is between the pipes,” he said. “Off the ice, he is constantly wanting to learn and improve in any way he can, and that’s all you can ask for as a coach.”
The 6’1”, 198lbs Calgary product has played in 63 career Western Hockey League games as a member of the Tri-City Americans and Prince Albert Raiders.
The Bobcats will resume their schedule on Friday night when they host the Spruce Grove Saints. Friday’s game will also be the annual Teddy Bear Toss so be sure to make your way down to the Civic Centre to catch all of the action.
