Lloydminster, AB – The Lloydminster Bobcats will be hosting the Bob Troup Tribute Game on December 12th to celebrate the legacy of a man who inspired so many and was dedicated to the community. Bob contributed so much to the Bobcats and is sorely missed as he filled many roles. He was a member of the Board of Directors, a game day constant, a long-time volunteer and a person always ready to jump in and lend a hand. Bob passed away in May and on December 12th we will celebrate his contributions and announce the penalty box will be dedicated to him as he was there every game day. Prior to the game there will be an official tribute with a banner revealing followed by a ceremonial puck drop as the Bobcats take to the ice to face the Olds Grizzlies at 2PM. Boundary Ford will be giving away 100 tickets to the game, if interested stop at one of the Boundary Ford Service or Boundary Motorsports beginning December 1st. In recognizing Bob’s belief in the Bobcats as an integral part of the community he loved and his commitment to the city of Lloydminster, the annual Teddy Bear Toss will take place during the game. “I really miss Bob Troup. He was “˜Trouper’ and very accurately “trouper” is the original word used to describe a person who carries on gamely through good times and bad. He was there as a friend, as a mentor. His presence was big on and off the ice as he worked every game day, stopped by the office regularly, offered sponsorship help and was there to be called on whenever needed. We shared the belief in the value of community and the truth a junior hockey team can give back so much. As an ongoing tribute and so his legacy lives on, the Bobcats will strive to be excellent role models in the city and surrounding area and always be involved in community initiatives. Thank you, Bob!!” commented Bobcats General Manager and Head Coach Nigel Dube.
