Lloydminster, AB ? The time of year in which most people call the off season has been far from that for the Lloydminster Bobcats. The Bobcats have made a major transaction with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons which included six players in the deal. It is a trade that will see the Bobcats receiving forward?s Chad MacLean and Nolen Coventry, along with defenseman Gunnar Kinniburgh. MacLean is a 2001 born forward coming from Calgary who last season with the Oil Barons posted 6 goals and 10 assists while amassing 130 penalty minutes. In the post season MacLean scored once and had two assists to go along with 18 penalty minutes in 10 games. Coventry, who is also a 2001 born forward from Calgary, at 5?11? put up 6 goals and 10 assists last year while playing junior as a seventeen-year-old. Both MacLean and Coventry played for the Calgary Buffaloes during the 2017-18 season. Kinniburgh is a 2000 born defender who stands at 6?1? and played in 57 games last season posting 7 points and 56 penalty minutes. The veteran defenseman has played the last two seasons for the Oil Barons playing in 56 games as a seventeen-year-old. Bobcats Head Coach and General Manager Nigel Dube is very excited about the transaction, ?this is a move we have been working on for a significant time and one that will really help our organization moving forward. We received three very good people in this move continuing to strengthen the culture we are working toward in Lloydminster. Aside from the fact how good these young people are, these are three hockey players who are going to be injected in our lineup when the season starts and play a big part for us! We are very excited about this move and what it does for our program.?
Going the other way in the trade are defenseman Andrew Smiley, forwards Hunter Lamb and Logan Bromhead.
The Bobcats would like to welcome the families of MacLean, Coventry, and Kinniburgh to the organization and the City of Lloydminster! For season tickets and registration for hockey school email admin@lloydminsterbobcats.com or phone 780-871-0900 today! #BorderCityBuilt
