Bobcats Land Two More Recruits, Including AMHL Second Leading Scorer.

The Lloydminster Bobcats are pleased to announce the signing of two more ’98 born players, Zach Webb and Tristan Petrie.

Webb will be the second player joining the Bobcats from last season's Maple Leaf Athletic Club Midget AAA hockey team in Edmonton, with Evan Wood being the other. A ‘98 born forward from St. Albert, AB, Webb can flat out score. Last season he was the Alberta Midget AAA league's second highest scorer (52 total points) missing top honours by just a single point. With 13 goals and 39 assists Webb scored at an incredible rate of 1.53 points per game. Webb is a 5’10″, 160 lb skilled centre who has excellent vision and passing ability.

“He (Webb) has great vision around the net and the ability to find an open man when he has the puck,” says Gord Thibodeau, Head Coach and GM. “We expect him to be a go-to guy who can produce at a high level offensively from day one.”

Petrie is a player most may recognise as an A.P. for the Bobcats last season. A native of Lloydminster, he suited up in three games for the team over 2014-15 and 2015-16 and should transition well to the club as a permanent member. The 6’2’’, 175 lb defenseman has played Midget AAA hockey in Lloydminster, and also spent an entire season with the Junior B Bandits in 2014-15. Last season, Petrie was an alternate captain of the Lloydminster Midget AAA team that went all the way to the Telus Cup Bronze medal game. Petrie is the second player to sign with the Bobcats from last year's AAA Bobcats team along with '98 forward Tre Doyon.

“Petrie is a smart, stay-at-home defenseman with great character. He is a physical presence anytime he is on the ice,” added Thibodeau.

With today's announcement the group of recruits has grown to 11 officially announced since the beginning of the season on June 1st.

Main camp will begin on August 26th, where fans can see all 11 recruits currently announced.
