Captain Kaiser’s OT Winner Puts Cats Back in Win Column

Stuck in a four-game losing skid, Zach Kaiser decided enough was enough Saturday night at the Casman Centre.

The Bobcat’s captain scored twice including the overtime winner as Lloydminster downed the Oil Barons 3-2 in extra time.

The 20-year old from Orangeville, Ontario didn’t waste any time in opening the scoring.

Just 1:13 into the game Kaiser found the back of the net for his 7th goal of the season, giving the Cats an early 1-0 lead.

It didn’t take long for Lloydminster to double the advantage. Defenceman Ryley Hogan drove the puck down below the goal-line, threw the puck back out front and it deflected its way into the goal for Hogan’s 3rd of the season.

The Bobcats would carry the 2-0 advantage into the first intermission. However, over the remainder of the game The MOB would work their way back into the contest.

Using a goal in the second period and a goal in the third, the Oil Barons pushed the game to OT, where Kaiser put the final nail in the coffin.

Breaking in on a 2-on-1 with Logan Bromhead, Kaiser kept the puck on his stick before wiring a left-handed wrist shot past Curr to secure the win.

Out-shooting the Oil Barons 6-1 in OT, the Cats finished with a 34-31 advantage in the shot department.

With the power-play both teams finished 0 for 6.

Starting in goal, Cale Elder made 29 saves in the victory.

Next up for the Cats is a Tuesday night home game when they host the Grand Prairie Storm at the Civic Centre.
